Although we've purchased many coffees from Renardo Ovalle, this was one of the most unique tasting coffees that he offered us this year. On the cupping table there were distinct notes of cardamom, orange, papaya, with a floral aftertaste and lingering brown-sugar sweetness. There are three different varieties planted on this smaller lot, with Bourbon making up the largest portion.

We roast your coffee to order Monday-Friday every week. Please see our schedule below:

Orders placed before 1:00 PM PST on Sunday through Thursday - processed the same day and roasted the following day.

Orders placed after 1:00 PM PST on Thursday - processed on Friday - roasted on Monday.

Orders placed between 1:00 PM PST Friday and 1:00 PM PST Sunday - processed on Sunday and roasted on Monday.

Please note Sightglass does not roast or ship eCommerce orders on the weekend.

Sweet, well balanced
Definitely get the muscovado sugar, but not so much on the cara cara and cardamom. Regardless, well balanced roast. Bonus was a good amount of crema. Brewed on a Superautomatic.

Strong, bold, smooth, yet slight smoky note coffee - 4.5 stars
We have purchased multiple different Renardo Ovalle coffees over the years. His farms truly have different flavor notes.
This one is roasted to provide a clean taste in our Aeropress.
It is a Medium roast. A picture is attached.
It comes out with fewer flavor notes than we expected. We didn’t note any chocolate flavors. It had a strong, bolder coffee taste with a smoky side that is noticed in your nose, after sipping it.
We prefer soothing flavors, more like another Sightglass coffee, Cubito, offers, but for what this is roasted to, it is good.

I was embarrassingly excited for this batch to arrive. It did not disappoint. Such a smooth cup of coffee (I use an Aero Press) with amazing flavor and notes especially the Muscavodo sugar. It pleases me to know the origin and the back story. Customer for life!

Best One Yet!!!
This one just arrived this month from our single origin subscription. Definitely a winner. Very smooth and you can taste the orange note from the first sip. The notes were so spot on that we infused the beans with cream and made a winning basque coffee cheesecake with it as well. Definitely recommend!

This is delicious. All the tasting notes--orange, cardamom, sugar--come through. I did 18 grams in, 40 out in 30 seconds, and added 92 grams of steamed oat milk. Wonderful. Even more wonderful with oat milk and a 50 mg of maple syrup!

How many cups of coffee are in a bag?

Using the recipe that we use in-store, each 12oz bag makes 17 cups of coffee - just the right amount for one person to use in two weeks or for a pair of coffee drinkers to enjoy in a week.

Each 2LB bag makes 45 cups of coffee - just the right amount for one person to use in 3 weeks or for two people to enjoy in a week and a half

Each 5LB bag makes 113 cups of coffee - just the right amount for one person to use in 8 weeks or for two people to enjoy in a month

How long does Sightglass coffee stay fresh?

Sightglass coffee tastes best up to six weeks after the roast date printed on the back of the sealed bag. Once opened, we recommend you use the coffee within two weeks for optimal freshness. Coffee will taste best when ground immediately before brewing.
