Organic, Hunky Dory Decaf

I was expected so much from these beans. Coming from Sight Glass's "Blueboon" which is probably the best bean i've ever tasted. Caffeine usually gives me anxiety so i'd prefer to not have it.

When I ground these beans for the first time for my Moka Pot, they ground finer then standard beans.. The result was super super bitter. A week later (In a vacuum tin) I got my own grinder, and ground some fresh coffee a bit courser. It came out a lot less bitter, but it was still sort of like a tart orange, with a flat bitter taste. My next try will be grinding even courser, but tbh, i've given it 3 tries and haven't been a fan each time. The bitterness sort of leaves a gross mouth feel, even with a bit of milk and sugar, so you want to drink something else after a bit. With Blueboon you don't want it to end and it leaves a balanced smooth taste in your mouth. I do prefer a medium blend, and this seems to be on the darker end of medium, so maybe that has something to do with it? Anyway, I was excited for this as it is Sight Glass's only decaf bean, it's organic, and swiss water, but the taste was not good. The reviews made me super stoked, but i've only been able to get a mid tier cup out of it... Blueboon on the other hand is amazing. I have no anti-decaf dogma. I honestly wish Blueboon had no caffine, but as far as taste, this falls short for me. It isn't bad, but it is not even remotely in the same league as Blueboon.
