Although we've purchased many coffees from Renardo Ovalle, this was one of the most unique tasting coffees that he offered us this year. On the cupping table there were distinct notes of cardamom, orange, papaya, with a floral aftertaste and lingering brown-sugar sweetness. There are three different varieties planted on this smaller lot, with Bourbon making up the largest portion.

Sweet, well balanced
Definitely get the muscovado sugar, but not so much on the cara cara and cardamom. Regardless, well balanced roast. Bonus was a good amount of crema. Brewed on a Superautomatic.
We have purchased multiple different Renardo Ovalle coffees over the years. His farms truly have different flavor notes.
This one is roasted to provide a clean taste in our Aeropress.
It is a Medium roast. A picture is attached.
It comes out with fewer flavor notes than we expected. We didn’t note any chocolate flavors. It had a strong, bolder coffee taste with a smoky side that is noticed in your nose, after sipping it.
We prefer soothing flavors, more like another Sightglass coffee, Cubito, offers, but for what this is roasted to, it is good.

Are all your Coffees organic?
Most of the coffee that we source annually is certified Organic. These coffees go into classic blends like Blueboon, Toketee, Owl's Howl, Banner Dark, Crown Point, and Hunky Dory.
On our single origin menu, Worka Chelbessa from the Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia is certified Organic. We purchase other single origin coffees yearly with Organic certifications but are often sold as conventional coffees.
How long does your Coffee stay fresh?
Sightglass coffee tastes best up to six weeks after the roast date printed on the back of the sealed bag. Once opened, we recommend you use the coffee within two weeks for optimal freshness. Coffee will taste best when ground immediately before brewing.
How many cups are in a bag?
Using the recipe that we use in our café, each 12oz bag makes 17 cups of coffee: just the right amount for one person to use in two weeks or for a pair of coffee drinkers to enjoy in a week.
Each 2LB bag makes 45 cups of coffee - just the right amount for one person to use in 3 weeks for two people.
Each 5LB bag makes 113 cups of coffee - just the right amount for one person to use in 8 weeks for two people.
